The Santa Barbara Plantation is a master planned mixed-use
resort on the island of Curacao in the Southern Caribbean.
The master planned luxury resort project is situated on
the southeastern side of Curacao fronting on three bodies
of water: the Caribbean Sea; the large inland bay known
as Spanish Waters; and Fuikbaai, a Caribbean inlet protected
by a coral reef.
The
Southern Caribbean is regarded as one of the last unspoiled,
but accessible, tropical paradises remaining in the world.
Curacao, with a population of approximately 150,000 and
a land area of 171 square miles, is the largest and most
populous island in the Netherlands Antilles. Curacao is
37 miles from the coast of Venezuela and is located between
Aruba and Bonaire. It is a well-established port of call
for cruise ships and with its natural port at Willemstad,
it has become a major shipping hub in the Caribbean. Curacao
lies outside the hurricane belt and generally is unaffected
by hurricanes that frequent its Caribbean neighbors.
Nearly constant northeast trade winds and low humidity
provide mild year-round temperatures and a sunny, dry,
tropical climate perfect for a wide range of recreational
activities and a twelve-month vacation season.
In addition to offering sun, sand and sea like Aruba and
excellent diving like Bonaire, Curacao also provides various
cultural, historical and ecological points of interest
that appeal to upscale visitors. Island assets include
the picturesque capital of Willemstad, a United Nations
Heritage Site; a number of forts and plantation houses,
some dating back to the 17th century; and ecological treasures,
including the National Underwater Park, which is located
directly offshore from the resort.
The Santa Barbara Plantation site is 30 minutes from the
Hato International Airport in a relatively undeveloped
area of Curacao, adjacent to the most desirable residential
communities and approximate to some of the Island’s
best dive sites.
The first phase of the master planned resort community
at Santa Barbara Plantation includes the following:
350-room Hyatt Regency Hotel including restaurants, spa,
meeting space, pool, tennis facilities, and retail
shops;
18-hole championship golf course designed by Pete Dye,
one of the top golf architects in the world;
Marina located near the resort hotel with 10 slips for
dive boats, water sports, charter fishing boats and tour
boats.
29 condominium homes;
25 fractional share units;
110 residential lots; and
90 terrace homes
Seru Boca Estates, an exclusive residential community
consisting of 45 estate lots, and Seru Boca Marina, a
120 slip marina located on Spanish Waters, have been
developed
and are part of the first phase of master planned development.
As the first phase of the resort operations stabilize
along with the absorption of the residential units, additional
phases of the project will be developed. These future
phases will include an additional 18-hole golf course,
hotel rooms, a large commercial marina with up to 400
slips, condominium/vacation ownership units and residential
lots.
A state-of-art telecommunications system is being developed
to provide the latest convenience for hotel guests and
the residents at Santa Barbara Plantation. Services being
provided to the project include residential and commercial
telephone services with voice mail, high speed internet
access, cable television and an international carrier
gateway. |
